Rubik's Cube

Aidan was in the Rubiks Cube club at school.  He learned to complete the Rubiks cube in a minute and a half.  Pretty amazing if you ask me.  His team was in a competition this past year.  Each team completed against another team to complete 25 cudes in the least amount of time possible.  Aidan's team of 6 completed all 25 cubes in 6 minutes.  I had no idea the Rubiks cube was such a hit and was actyally a competitive event.  We are so proud  of him!!

St Patty's Day

For St Patty's Day this year, we decided to day drink at a local pub.  John, Christy, Scott and I rode our bikes to a pub down the street, Fiber McGees.  It was super fun and packed!  They had a huge tent outside with a stage and band, bars, food, dancing, etc.  We only stayed a couple of hours but had a great time!

Scott's Surgery

Scott had a vasectomy reversal done this year.  I am so thankful that he wants to have more children and he was willing to go through this procedure.  I had no idea it would be as intense as it was.  He was such a trooper.  He was out of commission for a couple of weeks and had to wear a jock strap 24/7 for 2 weeks.  He was in a lot of pain and was super uncomfortable.  I am so happy and thankful.  It means the world to me and I can't wait to expand our family!

Easter

Some of the family came out to AZ this year for Easter.  Mom, Dad, Adam, and Aunt Kathy came out for the weekend.  Brianne was living here at the time going through training so she was here too.  It was so nice to have family here.  On Easter, Jon and Kathy came up form Tucson as well.  It was a full house and I LOVED it!  Such a great weekend!

Scott's Birthday

For Scotts birthday this year the family went to his favorite restaurant, The Italian Grotto.  It was a great family date night.  When we came home, Scott was surprised with a table full of presents.  We had cupcakes and candles to finish the night.  The next day on his actual birthday, we both ditched work and golfed at the Talking Stick resort.  The course was beautiful and the weather was perfect.  It was the best way to celebrate his 36th bday!

Climb to Conquer Cancer

I have participated in this fundraising event a few times in the past to help raise money for American Cancer Society.  This year was more important for me to participate to support a dear friend that lost her husband way too early a few months prior.  Lydia, who lost her husband, Mel and myself climbed the mountain together.  It was a 5.5 mile walk to the top.  Thousands of people showed up to support the cause.  I had to wake up super early for a Saturday and it was super cold (and windy at the top) but it was so worth it.
I often think of Tom Phillips and this day he was top of mind.  It just doesn't seem real that he is not around any more.  All the memories of him bring a huge smile to my face and a tear to my eye.  Scott met him once but I just wish he had the chance to really hang out with him.  He was nothing but FUN.
I was very proud to be a part of this event this year and I hope to keep doing it for years to come.

January

New Years Eve

Usually we stay in New Years Eve and make our own party at home, just the family.  This year we decided to go out on the town.  We met up with my good friend Lauren and her boyfriend Adam.  We started out at Kona Grill for dinner and drinks.  There was about 10 people in the entire restaurant including ourselves. Clearly it was not the happenin place but we had fun nonetheless.  Our next stop was the corner bar, Nates Third Base for more drinks and a bit of pool.  The night was fun and we didn't have to deal with any crowds.  It was a great celebration to start the new year.

Cory's Visit

Scott's best friend Cory came to town this January.  We are always happy to see him and wish he could come more often.  This visit he brought his girlfriend Misty.  I was so great to meet her.  He had a blast of course.  He hit up the bars and went out for my friend Lauren's birthday.  He also went to the casino.  It was a quick trip but had we had such a great time.  We are hoping to see them again soon.

Time Flies

I can't believe how fast time goes by.  It feels like just yesterday that this year was beginning and it is already September.  In the blink of an eye 8 months have past and Christmas will be here before we know it.  It's time to slow down and enjoy today.  This year has been a good one and I have a lot to catch up on so I figure the best way to update my blog is to post month by month.  I'll to start from the beginning...

Holiday Light Tour

For the second year in a row, Scott and I rented a limo to go on a holiday light tour with the kids.  It is a new tradition that I hope to carry on for a long time.  It is nice to sit back and enjoy the ride with the family while the driver takes you to all the houses on your tour.  The kids got in their cozies and brought their hot chocolate and Teddy Bear. The kids were sooo hyper at first!  They thought we were famous for the night.  We cruised around for 2 hours listening to Christmas music and going from house to house.  We saw some neat houses this year but the best was an entire block with every house decorated with tons of lights and characters.  By the end of the tour the kids were pooped and Ava was asleep.  We had some great family time though and we are certainly looking forward to next year!
